Voki

Page history last edited by Veronica Garcia 11 years, 10 months ago

Voki avatars have become very popular in the classroom. Teachers have been using them for a variety of projects including character analysis, summary, biographies, and much more. For a list of some classroom uses, visit the Lesson Plans page on the Voki website.

What is a Voki? It is a character or avatar that can be randomly or custom created. There are different characters to choose including animals, cartoons, males, females, famous people, etc. Users can change clothing, hairstyle, accessories, and background to achieve a particular effect. In addition, users can give their avatar a voice by either recording using a microphone or a phone, or by typing in the text. Users are limited to 59 seconds of audio.

What can I do with a Voki? Users can email their vokis to other users. Vokis can also be embedded into web pages, wikis, and blogs.

Can anyone create a Voki? Yes, anyone can create a voki. Once a voki is published, it is assigned a unique address (or URL), and anyone can view that voki by entering that address. However, only users who are 13 and over can register for an account and save their voki for later use.
