Dora the Explorer has different chores to do on the farm. Some of the activities involve listening to the different sounds animals make and identifying the correct farm animal. The other activities include Dora catching eggs, finding the pigs in the mud, and counting the number of eggs and pigs in each activity.
Students can guess which objects are living and nonliving. They can also watch how the living organisms move and practice labeling parts of the organism.
Using a PowerPoint, the recorder, and a digital camera, the teacher can create a slide show presentation explaining the life cycle of a butterfly. In addition the teacher can narrate the presentation and have a computer center where students can view the presentation as many times as they need to. In order to assess the students, the students can create a drawing of the life cycle using the appropriate names of each stage. Northside ISD (San Antonio, TX) has a WebQuest with a PowerPoint presentation and a Butterfly Research Guide that has already been created.
